TACT Update

After much discussion, we have an important update: TACT College has been rescheduled for July 26-28, 2021, at the Irving Convention Center.

The health and safety of our members is our top priority. TTLA is committed to following the guidance of federal, state, and local health authorities. The current state of the pandemic and the restrictions on in-person gatherings have made it impossible to conduct the vigorous, meaningful trial simulation that makes TACT such a valuable experience.

We considered virtual options, but ultimately concluded that doing so would diminish the experience for TACT students. Afterall, the in-person participation and feedback TACT students receive directly from the TACT faculty is critical to helping you hone their trial skills.

TACT students have some options for securing a spot for the rescheduled TACT College or release their spot in favor of a credit or refund. TACT students should contact Lisa Mellors for more information.

The Texas Trial Lawyers Association has issued the following statement expressing grief over the senseless killing of George Floyd and our mission-centered work to promote justice for all Texans:

The Texas Trial Lawyers Association, an association made up of all segments of our Texas community, expresses our deep sadness and grief over the senseless killing of George Floyd and share the global reaction. Mr. Floyd’s death is another painful reminder of the long history of injustice and that, as Dr. King said, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Since its inception, TTLA’s mission has called trial lawyers to promote justice for ALL Texas families. We have a shared vision with those who are demanding change.

We call on our members to continue to stand on the side of equality and justice and to speak out against racism. Our Association is committed to working with our state leaders to continue in joint efforts to improve a system that will serve justice and access to the law.
