WHEREAS, Zollie Steakley suddenly departed this life and our company on November 5, 2020 and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and its members are deeply saddened at the loss of this great trial lawyer, friend, and colleague who was passionate about and devoted to helping those in need, and

WHEREAS, Zollie attended Baylor University on an academic scholarship graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1998, and then entered Baylor Law School graduating on November 4, 2000 ranked highest in his class, and

WHEREAS, he was admitted to practice law in the State of Texas on May 2, 2001 following the path of a career in the law taken by his great uncle Texas Supreme Court Justice Zollie Coffer Steakley, Jr. and his father Zollie Carl Steakley, and

WHEREAS, he joined the prestigious Waco, Texas law firm of Campbell, Cherry, Harrison, Davis, and Dove, P.C. which is now Harrison, Davis, Steakley, Morrison , and Jones where he was an extremely accomplished litigator and successfully represented his clients as an honorable, compassionate, and zealous advocate, and

WHEREAS, Zollie was recognized by the legal profession In Texas Monthly as one of the Rising Stars of Texas Law and since 2005 as a Super Lawyer, and he worked in Baylor Law School’s advocacy program and served as an adjunct professor at Baylor Law School teaching Consumer Protection and Products Liability, and

WHEREAS, he gave back to the plaintiff’s practice of law by joining as a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association in 2001, serving as a Director of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association from 2004 to 2020, and being Chairman and Treasurer of TTLA PAC from 2017 to 2020, and was honored as the first recipient of the prestigious Reich Chandler Outstanding Award, and

WHEREAS, he was a loving father to his three daughters, and an exceptional soft-spoken gentleman, friend and colleague who was always gracious, caring, compassionate and giving to all;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association hereby honors the life, service and distinguished legal career of Zollie Steakley.
